Earning from a side hustle e.g. sales at Christmas crafts or festive sales – you may need to file a UK tax return.

If you make or sell items e.g. Christmas decorations, upcycled gifts, or work on a Christmas market stall you may need to report this income to HMRC. Please note that the tax rules apply to all side hustles not just sales at Christmas fares, etc.

If your side hustle earnings are over £1,000, you will need to notify HMRC.

Anyone earning over £1,000 from all side hustles combined in the 2024 to 2025 tax year must register for Self Assessment, submit a tax return, and pay any tax due by 31 Jan 2026.

Need assistance with your 2024/25 tax return? Our dedicated Farrell & Farrell tax team is here to help.
