UK Reminder: Annual filers must use MTD from 15 May 2023 as online VAT return closes

HMRC are reminding all VAT registered users who usually file their VAT return annually, that the online VAT return will close from Monday, 15 May 2023.

Therefore from this date, annual VAT filers must use Making Tax Digital (MTD) compatible software to file their VAT returns and their VAT records must be kept in digital format unless an exemption has been granted by HMRC.

Failure to file and pay on time may result in the new VAT late payment and filing penalties being charged.
