HMRC is contacting parents who may owe tax on Child Benefit payments for the 2024/25 tax year.

Who could be affected?

  • If you or your partner earns over £60,000, you may need to repay some Child Benefit.

  • If the higher earner earns £80,000 or more, all Child Benefit may need to be repaid.

  • If you owe tax for 2024/25, you may need to register for Self-Assessment and submit a tax return.

If you have received a letter from HMRC, don’t ignore it. Taking action promptly could help you avoid penalties.

Need assistance with your HMRC Self-Assessment tax return? Our dedicated Farrell & Farrell team is here to help.
