UK: Inflation rate falls to 1.7% in September 2024

The inflation rate in September has fallen unexpectedly to 1.7%, the lowest rate for three and a half years and below the Bank of England’s 2% target.
The Bank of England is next due to review interest rates on 7 November 2024 and it is facing rising pressure to make further cuts to the current 5% rate.
