Extension to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme

The Chancellor has today announced that the CJRS, offering support for furloughed employees, is to be extended until the end of October 2020.

The scheme was initially due to end on 30 June 2020.

There will be no changes to the scheme until the end of July 2020.

From August to October employers using the scheme will be able to bring employees back to work on a part time basis.

The Government has confirmed that the current rate of support that employees receive will remain at 80% of their wages up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the duration of the scheme.

Employers will however be asked to contribute more and share the costs of supporting employees with the Government.

Further details on the above changes are to be issued by the Government by the end of May 2020.
